Hearing Aids Could Hold Evidence in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance – Crime Online

Missing Arizona mother Nancy Guthrie may have vanished with a second pair of hearing aids, which could possibly help investigators pinpoint her whereabouts.

Digital forensics expert with Cellebrite and the SANS Institute, Heather Barnhart, told Nancy Grace on Tuesday’s “Crime Stories” that hearing aids, if paired with a device, would show a last known location, until they “lose their charge.”

“If you have hearing aids paired with that device, there is a database on her phone that examiners should be able to look at and see her last known location,” Barnhart said.

“In order for that to work, they’d have to be paired.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after family members dropped her off at her Catalina home after dinner.

They reported her missing the following day after she failed to show up for church.

Guthrie’s phone and one pair of hearing aids were left behind.

“Her phone is tied to those hearing aids and tied to her pacemaker,” Barnhart added.

“The fact that her phone is left behind, I’m sure they’d get a location, and they either did and they’re holding that close to them, or they fell short.”

Images of suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance appear to come from two separate visits to her home/FBI

Meanwhile, over $1 million is being offered in the case.

  • $102,500: 88-CRIME
  • $100,000: 1-800-CALL-FBI
  • $1 million from the Guthrie family: 1-800-CALL-FBI (tips can be anonymous)

Tipsters can also contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department tip line at 520-351-4900.

Homeowners in the area are encouraged to submit relevant security footage through the PCSD Evidence Submission Portal.
