The realities of Kyle Cooke’s career pivot into DJing continued to cause major issues in his marriage to Amanda Batula on Summer House Season 10.

Prior to announcing their split after four years of marriage, Kyle and Amanda’s ongoing conflict over his late-night gigs reemerged during Episode 7. In between weekends in the Hamptons, the couple had a heart-to-heart in their NYC apartment after Kyle lamented feeling like “a zombie” while traversing the country to DJ and simultaneously trying to keep Loverboy afloat amid the alcohol brand’s financial “decline.”

“There’s not a great place among the various opportunities to pump the brakes,” he told his wife in their kitchen. “I haven’t talked about it much with you, but I’m close to signing with a manager that will help me book better gigs that pay more.”

As Kyle explained that his DJ career provided “a path to making a very good living,” Amanda still couldn’t seem to get on board with his new lifestyle. Afterward, Kyle unpacked his confusion to a producer, mentioning the fact that he’d stopped paying himself a salary at Loverboy.

“I’m making money doing DJ gigs, but I’m also getting Loverboy into venues that normally charge,” Kyle explained. “I don’t understand how she doesn’t see it from my perspective. Like, she could care less about my business, my debt, my employees. Some of them have families; I’m paying for their benefits. Our future, our financial future, you’d think that would matter to Amanda.”

Why Amanda Batula opposed Kyle Cooke’s DJ career

Amanda, for her part, suggested that Kyle “cut back” on some of the “new careers” that he’d taken on, along with his constant traveling, in order to alleviate some of his stress. As he pointed out, however, “DJing not only brings me probably the most joy out of everything right now, but it also helps connect the dots with Loverboy.”

Kyle’s reveal about potentially finding new management, meanwhile, led Amanda to realize that DJing and the nightlife industry as a whole had, at some point, become part of his “long-term” plan.

“I didn’t marry a DJ, but all of a sudden, I’m now the wife of one,” she told Kyle. “You’re just gonna be, like, traveling and, like, playing late all the time? Like, that’s just gonna be it? That’s just how things are gonna be?”

After Kyle confirmed that he planned to continue DJing for the long haul, Amanda wondered how their marriage factored into the equation. “Where do I fit in?” she asked. “I’m just trying to figure out … if you’re taking, like, us into consideration with some of these decisions.”

Before ending the conversation to return to work, Amanda added, “We could be doing things together. You just have to, like, be around, you know? But it sounds like you’re signing with a manager though, so just figure it out.”

How Kyle Cooke’s DJing contributed to Amanda Batula’s trust issues

Summer House‘s March 17 episode provided only the latest entry into the list of problems Kyle and Amanda have been navigating all season. In fact, her issues with him DJing had already come up as early as the Season 10 premiere.

From the beginning, Amanda admitted that she was “not 100 percent supportive” of Kyle’s new gig. As she explained to Ciara Miller, “I wanted him to stop going out and partying, and he found a career where he goes out late and parties”

In the same episode, Amanda also referenced “another f–king rumor” about Kyle allegedly cheating, which came up again later during an argument in Episode 3. At that point, Amanda had already detailed an incident in which Kyle fell asleep at a fan’s apartment, following one of his late-night DJ sets.

“Every time you go out, I get DMs telling me that you were up to something suspicious,” Amanda vented to Kyle. “And I don’t even bring them all up to you anymore, because it’s just constant.”

When a producer asked her point-blank if she thought Kyle had, indeed, been unfaithful during their marriage, Amanda answered, “I’d like to think not, but he has in the past. And I know that there have been plenty of rumors about it, so who knows? Only Kyle.”

As they continue to navigate their issues on Summer House, find out where Kyle and Amanda stand today, post-split.
