Missing University of Alabama Student James Gracey’s Wallet Found in Ocean Near Barcelona Club – Crime Online

Spanish authorities said Thursday they found missing University of Alabama student James “Jimmy” Gracey’s wallet near a Barcelona beach.

According to FOX News Digital, police stated they found the wallet floating in water near Somorrostro Beach. The discovery happened after aquatic and drone searches began searching the area for the missing 20-year-old.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Gracey, of Elmhurst, Illinois, vanished March 17 after going to Shôko beachfront restaurant and nightclub with friends, in Barcelona’s Port Olímpic area.

A friend said he saw Gracey at around 3 a.m. (local time). He reportedly had been talking to an American girl with brown hair before he vanished, according to what a source told FOX.

When he failed to return back to an Airbnb at Ronda de Sant Pere, his family reported him missing.

Police later found his stolen phone. A source told FOX that authorities found the phone following the “arrest of a third-party individual.”

It’s unclear if the person is connected to Gracey’s disappearance. Police have not publicly named any suspects.

Gracey took a personal spring break trip to the country to visit friends who study abroad. According to CNN, Gracey’s flight back home was scheduled for Saturday.

His father has since traveled to Spain to assist in the search.

“Jimmy is a kind, responsible, and devoted son and brother. It is completely out of character for him not to check in with family and friends,” a family statement read.

A friend told FOX that Gracey is the University of Alabama’s Theta Chi fraternity chaplain and philanthropy chairman.

Gracey is described as standing 6 foot, 1 inch tall and weighing around 175 pounds. He was last seen in dark pants, a white t-shirt, and a chain with a gold rhinestone cross.
