ST. CHARLES, Mo. (TCN) — A couple has been jailed on multiple charges in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of their 2-year-old daughter.
On March 13, Joshua Sinkler, 36, and Amber Sinkler, 31, were each charged with felonies associated with the alleged abuse, the St. Charles County Police Department announced. Joshua Sinkler was charged with first-degree child molestation, first-degree statutory rape, statutory sodomy or attempted sodomy, sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of child pornography, endangering the welfare of a child, and incest. Amber Sinkler was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of child pornography.
Police say Amber Sinkler was “fully aware” her husband was having sexual contact with the victim and did not make any reports to stop the alleged abuse, KLIS reports. She allegedly “showed no concern for the child victim,” and told investigators she did not intervene because she was afraid of what would happen to Joshua Sinkler if she did.
The alleged abuse had been going on for about two years, since the child was a newborn, KMOV reports. Amber Sinkler told authorities she “wouldn’t be surprised” if Joshua Sinkler was molesting children in the neighborhood.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by the KLIS, Joshua Sinkler would allegedly film or photograph acts of abuse while under the influence of cocaine. The New York Post reports Amber Sinkler told authorities her husband would become very sexual with the child while under the influence of the drug. Cocaine was later found at their trailer home.
Video evidence obtained by police shows Amber Sinkler in the bed where the alleged abuse was happening. Police obtained four videos and several photos on Amber Sinkler’s phone, per the New York Post. One video allegedly showed Joshua Sinkler abusing the child while she cried and held a stuffed animal.
Amber Sinkler reportedly ran a YouTube channel showcasing shopping hauls, gaming content, and family outings, according to the New York Post. In addition to the 2-year-old, the Sinklers also have a 7-year-old son.
Police said the Sinklers lived in two locations and believe there may be additional victims. Police also indicated Joshua Sinkler frequently spent time in a parking lot behind a movie theater.
The New York Post reports the Sinklers are being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
The investigation is active.
