Lady Emma Thynn shared new details about a “scary” health issue that had reemerged on Ladies of London: The New Reign.
While paying a visit to castmate and longtime friend Mark-Francis Vandelli’s home during Episode 4, Lady Emma remarked on her tendency to stay active in an effort to avoid having to “stop and reflect” on some of life’s scary realities. “I think it’s probably because it all wraps back into that health scare I had when I was pregnant that has recently, totally, again reared its head,” she explained.
In a confessional, the Marchioness of Bath revealed that her medical issue initially began while she was pregnant with her first son, John, who was born in 2014.

“I was having severe headaches, and they got so bad that I couldn’t move, I couldn’t breathe,” Emma recalled, before detailing how an MRI previously revealed a cyst growing on her pituitary gland. “I had to have John early, and it was a really terrifying moment in my life. And I’m still dealing with it now.”
When Mark asked her for an update on what happened, the mother of two said that she had recently undergone her required yearly scan. “They told me [the cyst] jumped in size so much that it would be in a category that really is serious,” she admitted, before breaking down into tears.
“Recently, I went for a full-body MRI, and they told me that my pituitary cyst had grown a lot,” Lady Emma elaborated to a producer. “The diagnosis was so scary that I still haven’t processed it now.”

As Emma reiterated to Mark, “I think that’s probably why I’m taking on more challenges, which is sad, makes me sad. I feel like I’m running away from, like, the fear of that. …Â That’s probably my way of coping, which isn’t healthy, but it is what it is.”
The British aristocrat, meanwhile, made note of the fact that neither she nor Mark are “meditative” or “patient people,” before offering more insight on her state of mind.

“I’m not even outwardly sad about it. That’s, like, a really private, inward thing, actually,” Emma said. “Just keep calm, carry on, let’s go.”
Finally, she underscored the importance of “keeping an eye on” the issue, adding, “It’s scary. It’s so scary.”

Mark-Francis, for his part, shared his candid take on Lady Emma’s health scare with a producer.
“Emma was very sick during her first pregnancy, so this is probably the scariest news anyone can have,” he said. “It is not conceivable for an instant that anything could possibly happen to Emma. It is unthinkable.”
After all, during an earlier episode of Ladies of London, Mark had described Emma as being his “twin,” more so than simply a friend. After more than a decade of friendship, he joked that they somehow are “always thinking of the same thing.” Lady Emma, meanwhile, quipped, “I always say I’m prosecco and he’s Champagne.”
That’s why Mark reminded her that she really needs to look after herself, to which she replied, “I only want to make sure that I’m strong and well enough because I am responsible for my children.”
He disagreed with that statement, however, bringing both himself and Lady Emma’s husband, Ceawlin Thynn, Marquess of Bath, into the mix.
“You’re not just responsible for your children, by the way,” Mark countered. “You’re responsible for your husband and you are decidedly responsible for me, OK? So, you aren’t going anywhere.”
