The aftermath of Summer House‘s Kyle Cooke dropping an F-bomb on Amanda Batula included tears, apologies, and explanations.

The late-night conflict between Kyle and Amanda from Season 10, Episode 8, followed a group night out in the Hamptons. After returning to the house, Kyle spun some tunes for his housemates, including Amanda, who eventually migrated outdoors to the hot tub, leaving him behind indoors. “They kind of ditched me,” Kyle told a producer. “And right now, I don’t know how else to explain just how, like, isolated and alone I feel, by my wife.”

He eventually rejoined the crew outside with a Bluetooth speaker, more or less just in time for everyone to call it a night. During their ensuing backyard argument, Kyle accused Amanda of not being “supportive” of him, before eventually shouting, “F–k you” and storming off. Later that night, Kyle apologized to Amanda, but as they unpacked their issues off camera, a hot mic picked up audio of him hurling another insult at her, effectively ending the conversation, for the time being.

“There’s no excuse to, you know, drop the F-bomb and say ‘F you’ to your wife,” Kyle admitted afterward in a confessional. “But, like, I’m only human. I can only go so long getting the cold shoulder, you know, getting, like, the small-but-steady jabs. I used to think it was all in my own head, until I’ve watched some of these summers back.”

After several past Summer House clips rolled, illustrating his point, he continued, “Now I pick up on these jabs in real time. It doesn’t even matter if we’re having a good night, I still get jabbed. And it has just been piling up and piling up and piling up. It’s one thing if you’re in a funk, but if you’re having a blast with everybody but me, it’s just sad.”

Kyle Cooke unpacks his “isolated” feeling amid issues with Amanda Batula

While gearing up for his birthday party they next day, Kyle told Carl Radke that he was in “a little bit of a weird mood,” and briefly touched on what happened between him and Amanda.

“I just keep overthinking things and just letting, like, my happiness get hijacked,” he said, before asking if Carl knew what had “set [him] off” the previous night. “I kind of know, but I don’t want to talk about it.”

Kyle further opened up to a producer, conceding, “I’m like the worst version of myself this summer.”

“I’m just not able to articulate anything,” he elaborated. “I give Amanda these perfect instances of where I mess up or, like, I storm off or I say, ‘F you,’ or I stay out late. And meanwhile, there’s just, like, so many fundamental things that are wrong with the foundations of our relationship and I’m just unrelatable.”

Kyle added, “No one understands what I’m going through. So, it’s very isolating and makes me feel like I should just give up. But I’ve got so much invested in my marriage and my business, that just doesn’t seem like an option. I’m just trying to hold on.”

How Amanda Batula reacted to Kyle Cooke’s rant about her

Immediately following Kyle’s F-bomb comment, Amanda said she was “OK” and encouraged everyone else who heard it to drop the issue.

“We’re gonna act like nothing happened and we’re gonna all celebrate Kyle’s birthday tomorrow,” she told them. “I don’t want this to be a thing.”

As Amanda explained to a producer, “Literally, what is the point of talking about this? It’s only gonna make things worse. He’s not gonna take accountability. He’s not gonna, like, apologize for what he did. I know that it’s wrong, the way that he speaks to me. Like, I’m fully aware of that. I’m not OK with it. I just know that having a conversation about it isn’t gonna go anywhere.”

Her point appeared to be validated when her subsequent conversation with Kyle yielded no real resolution. During a tearful heart-to-heart with West Wilson, Amanda remarked, “I know I’m not perfect, but I’ve literally been dealing with this for over 10 years. Isn’t that crazy? Like, there is a part of me that’s like, this is the best I’m ever gonna do.”

Finally, during a debrief with Lindsay Hubbard the next morning, Amanda added of Kyle, “He’s going through his own s–t, but, like, it’s no excuse. Like, I didn’t treat him like s–t when I was depressed, you know?”

As Kyle and Amanda navigate their marital issues, get a sneak peek at all the drama still ahead on Southern Charm Season 10.
