Police in Tennessee have arrested a woman for the murder of another woman who was found dead after being reported missing.
Family members reported Samantha Goolsby missing around noon on Wednesday, saying she had not returned home the night before, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.
About four hours later, deputies received a call from a homeowner who reported they’d found “a partially concealed body in the wood line on their property.” Responding deputies noted that the body matched Goolsby’s description.
Investigators arrested 57-year-old Lora Morgan, who reportedly confessed to shooting Goolsby following “a domestic dispute” on Tuesday morning.
An affidavit said that Morgan and Goolsby argued that morning and that Morgan shot Goolsby as she was leaving the house, according to WSMV. She reportedly left Goolsby’s body on the floor for 24 hours and then moved her to the field where she was found.
She reportedly admitted to cleaning the scene the next day, the affidavit said.
Morgan has been charged with first degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and fabricating/tampering with evidence.
She’s being held on a bond of $820,000 with an April 20 court date.
