One question that The Real Housewives of Rhode Island‘s Jo-Ellen Tiberi said she hears “often” is whether or not she and her husband, Gary Tiberi, are “swingers.”
After setting the record straight during Episode 2, Jo-Ellen addressed the topic once again on The Real Housewives of Rhode Island After Show, underscoring the fact she was actually wearing pineapple earrings in the scene “just to f–k with people.” (As she and her RHORI castmates explained, an upside-down pineapple is a signifier that someone is a swinger.)
“I don’t know where this came from,” Jo-Ellen remarked. “Gary and I are not swingers, ever. … I would punch a bitch in the face if they were f–king my husband.”

She did have one theory, however, echoing her reveal from the episode that she and Gary “had a threesome” in the past. Nowadays, she noted that “Gary would never” be a swinger, nor would she “want to, like, flip-flop” with another couple.
Even though she and Gary “don’t have pineapples in [their] yard,” Jo-Ellen insisted that she doesn’t judge anyone who engages in that particular lifestyle either.
“I have nothing against it,” she said. “If anything, I’m like, ‘Tell me more.’ Like, it’s interesting. It’s just not for me or my marriage.”

The subject had arisen during a group outing to a local winery in RHORI‘s April 5 episode. At the time, host Kelsey Swanson had planned an activity that gave the women an opportunity to respond to any “questions, comments, [or] concerns” that they had involving rumors circulating about each other within the group.
After Ashley Iaconetti, Alicia Carmody, and Rosie DiMare took their turns clearing up gossip about their sex lives, Jo-Ellen didn’t flinch while reading her prompt aloud, “Are you a swinger?”

“I hear this question often,” she admitted. “I am not a swinger. Gary and I are not swingers. A few of my friends are swingers. Rhode Island’s a big swinging community. To each their own. I don’t give a s–t what they do.”
In a confessional, Jo-Ellen joked, “I wish Gary would let me and him swing. We had a threesome once. My mom’s gonna hear this.”
By then, she had already revealed her past threesomes during a game of Never Have I Ever at Rosie’s beach picnic in Episode 1, though.

In the supersized version of RHORI‘s premiere episode, which aired on April 2, Jo-Ellen shared more details about her and Gary’s relationship, as well as on their three children, Gian, 10, Jolie, 3, and Gia, 1.
“Gary and I met in high school,” Jo-Ellen explained of her husband, who currently works as a mortgage banker, in a producer interview. “He was, like, that hot senior and I was, like, this little “innocent” freshman. And I’d walk by his locker and be like, ‘Hi.’ And he finally said, ‘Oh, you’re Jen’s little sister.’ My sister loved him. But I was like, I want to marry this man, and I chased him. And then, finally, I got him.”
As her and Gary’s childhood friend Alicia revealed later, Jo-Ellen’s sister Jen “might have had a little thing” with Gary during their high school days, and they’re still “close” now.
When it comes to parenting, meanwhile, Jo-Ellen joked in a confessional, “Having three kids might as well be having 500 children.”
She went on to say, “I’m that PTA mom that buys cookies and then throws them in a Tupperware to bring them to a bake sale.”
