WINONA, Minn. (TCN) —Â A man has been sentenced for his role in a 2025 child torture case, police say.
WXOW reports Jalil Wilson, 28, pleaded guilty to false imprisonment with intentional restraints in connection with the torture of a 3-year-old. He had previously been charged with child torture, and that charge was dropped. Wilson was sentenced to 45 days in jail followed by three years of supervised probation. According to WXOW, the jail sentence will be dropped if he is able to keep a full-time job for two weeks before he is scheduled to report to jail in May.
Video evidence showed Williams wearing a clown mask dragging the child across the floor, WXOW reports. The child had been bound with duct tape. KTTC reports the child’s mother was home when this occurred but was in the shower at the time.
Wilson had been charged alongside two others, Atzavesta Williams and Joseline Gunderson. The video was discovered when a search warrant was executed on Gunderson’s Snapchat account, according to WKBT. According to a criminal complaint obtained by the outlet, Gunderson’s co-workers contacted authorities after she reportedly showed them disturbing videos. In addition to the video where Wilson wore the clown mask, other videos showed the child being restrained in a chair and being put into a closet.
When she was interviewed, Gunderson reportedly told police that the child was being punished for putting tape on his little brother, age 6 months at the time, WKBT reports.
Gunderson has already been charged and sentenced, and Williams is scheduled to appear in court on May 14 on a child torture charge, WXOW reports.
