Immediately after Brittany Cartwright and Brandon Hanson made their relationship official on The Valley, some of her castmates, namely Zack Wickham, worried that she was moving too quickly — and might also be “color blind” to her new man’s “red flags.”
In hindsight, however, Brittany fully admitted on The Valley After Show for Season 3, Episode 3, that there had been some early warning signs about Brandon that she might have ignored.
“I mean, drama was happening as soon as people found out that we were dating,” she described. “There [were] a lot of red flags.”
In her own defense, however, Brittany reasoned, “Again, I keep going back to the fact that I knew him for so long, and, like, he was a really good friend to me, back in the day. And I felt like, like, I actually know this person.”

Alarm bells started to go off, however, when Brandon got in the middle of drama involving Lala Kent, Michelle Saniei, and Jasmine Goode (more on that below). “Like, what, bro? Like, what the hell are you doing?” Brittany questioned in a separate clip from the After Show.
Regardless, she insisted that Brandon had no “ill intent” in assuring Jasmine that he’d had her back amid Lala and Michelle’s conversation about her during their car ride to Nia Sanchez Booko and Danny Booko’s housewarming party in Santa Clarita.
“He doesn’t realize you can’t say that in this friend group,” Brittany added. “And I wish I would’ve been around for that conversation [with Jasmine], because I was not. That’s the thing. He was a social butterfly, so he was just going around doing his own thing.”
Details on Brittany Cartwright and Brandon Hanson’s relationship
When Brandon, who lives about three hours away in Paso Robles, arrived for a visit in The Valley‘s April 15 episode, Brittany spilled new details about their relationship to a producer.
“I met Brandon in Kentucky,” she explained before, later, referencing their meeting when she worked as a waitress at Hooters. “We started off as really close friends. I loved his personality. He is just such a good, genuine person. But the timing just wasn’t right.”

As Brittany also noted, “I’m going through my separation and my divorce [from Jax Taylor], and he’s going through a separation as well. I’m sure there’s jealousy there with the exes and different things like that, so we’ve got a lot of things that we’re gonna have to work through.”
Either way, when Brandon asked Brittany to officially be his girlfriend during their Episode 3 date night, she agreed to exclusively date him.
During a later conversation with Zack regarding his concerns about Brittany dating him, Brandon, for his part, owned up to his issues, telling him, “I do have three kids. I do have an ex. … I get it. There are red flags.”
How Brittany Cartwright reacted to Brandon Hanson’s involvement in drama on The Valley
As previously mentioned, Michelle revealed on the way to Nia and Danny’s house that Jasmine had questioned if Lala was “genuine or not” at an earlier event. Fellow passenger Brandon, meanwhile, defended his “upbeat and happy” new friend, Jasmine, suggesting, “Maybe she came off the wrong way.”
While venting to Brandon and Lacy Nicole at the party, Jasmine questioned why Michelle would tell Lala what she said about her. “I know they were talking about it in the car,” she said. Brandon confirmed that to be true but also insisted that Lala “didn’t have an issue,” nor was Michelle “trying to force the issue.” By his account, they were simply recapping what was said at the group’s Y2K night, and he encouraged Jasmine to “just go talk to” Michelle, to clear everything up.
While confronting Michelle, Jasmine said that Brandon was “alluding to” the fact that she called her “fake” in the car. On the heels of Michelle denying that to be true, a stunned Brittany went and pulled her boyfriend into the conversation.
“I know that Brandon is a social butterfly, but he is social butterflying a little too much here,” Brittany commented to a producer. “Like, you do not tell my friends what another friend just said. Jax loved to stir the pot [and] gossip. This is not OK.”
Though Brandon eventually did his best to set the record straight, the whole situation still didn’t exactly sit right with Brittany. She added in a confessional, “I’m definitely worried that this is going to affect the way that my friends think about him. And I’m gonna try to, like, hold on, but goodness. Ugh, I don’t really love it.”
Are Brittany Cartwright and Brandon Hanson still together?
“It was kind of like a whirlwind relationship,” Brittany said. “It went into the public way sooner than we ever would have wanted it to. We still care a lot about each other. It ended amicably, but I just cannot do the long distance.”
She continued, “Hopefully, we can remain friends, but it’s just something I didn’t see that was going to be able to continue in the future.”
