MUNCIE, Ind. (TCN) — A 46-year-old man was arrested and jailed after allegedly beating a teenager while intoxicated.
On April 14, a 14-year-old boy called 911 to report battery, WXIN reports. When authorities arrived, the boy, whose name has not been released, said a man had beaten him, pushed him to the ground, and strangled him, making it difficult to breathe. Authorities noted that the boy had handprints and red marks throughout his body, including on his neck. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.
According to court documents obtained by the outlet, 911 dispatchers said they were told that the man who attacked the victim was highly intoxicated after drinking a large amount of vodka.
The suspect, Thomas Sutton, returned to the intersection where the alleged attack had taken place “of his own free will,” according to WXIN. Before he was booked into jail on battery and strangulation charges, he was taken to a hospital due to severe intoxication.
Sutton is being held without bond. If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison in addition to fines.
