Luke Gulbranson is officially running for Congress in Minnesota, and several Bravolebrities are sharing their reaction to the news. The Summer House alum took to social media on April 15, where he announced that he will be running as a Democrat in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District as he’s looking to unseat incumbent Rep. Pete Stauber.
The Eveleth, Minnesota native took to Instagram where he posted a video officially launching the campaign. In the video, the real estate agent, model, and entrepreneur can be seen skating in a hockey rink, talking about his childhood and how he plans on helping constituents if elected. “Yeah, I’ve been on reality TV. But that’s drama for show,” he stated in the video. “What’s happening in DC is real drama, with real consequences, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.”
Andy Cohen took to the comments of the announcement post, where he rooted for Luke. “Do it!!!!!!” he wrote. Andy also gave Luke his “Mazel of the Day” during Wednesday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “I’m just glad to see a Bravolebrity who’s aspiring to be anything other than a DJ,” Andy said during the episode.
Luke’s friends from Summer House also showed their support for the alum. Kyle Cooke took to the comments of the post where he encouraged his campaign. “Let’s go, buddy,” Kyle wrote. Lindsay Hubbard also took to her Instagram Story, where she re-posted Luke’s announcement video. “You guys…you know I love my Luke!” she noted. “Hit the link below and let’s donate towards his campaign!”
Luke Gulbranson opens up about his hockey career
Although Luke’s hockey career was sidelined due to a head injury at 19 years old, according to his campaign website, he still has so much love for the sport today. Luke took to Instagram in January, where he revealed that he has been coaching his niece in hockey.
“My first Love was hockey. Being on the ice was an escape from the things that were tough and out of my control in my life as a kid. When I was at the rink, I was happy and nothing else mattered. An open sheet of ice, cold air, the sound of pucks hitting the the boards and blades ripping up the ice. Alone working on my moves or my shot. Games with kids twice my age and many lost pucks in the snow,” he wrote in the caption of the post. “Being able to coach is special to me. However, coaching my niece, helping her develop and love this game, is priceless. The work we’ve been putting in is paying off. She got a hat trick last weekend! I’m so proud.”
