NEWTON COUNTY, Ark. (TCN) —Â A 61-year-old woman is facing charges in connection with a hammer attack that left her sister seriously injured.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by KTLO, deputies responded to a home on the afternoon of May 3 after receiving a call about an assault in progress. When they arrived, the 67-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was being treated in an ambulance. She had sustained wounds to her head, face, and neck, and was reportedly covered with blood. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the victim, she alleged she was asleep when her sister, Rosemarie Starr, entered her room and hit her with a hammer while saying she was going to kill her. The victim said she fell out of the bed and onto the floor, and her sister allegedly continued to hit her with the hammer, KTLO reports. KYTV reports that the sisters had reportedly been arguing about babysitting a child.
Police located Starr working in her garden next door. KTLO reports that she is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, first degree domestic battery, and terroristic threatening. She is being held on $500,000 bond.
