MIAMI (TCN) — A 66-year-old security guard is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and battery after he allegedly tried and failed to kill his wife twice in one night.
NBC Miami reports that on May 16, a woman hiding in a backyard shed called 911 and asked for help. According to an arrest report obtained by the outlet, Fael Francois allegedly put a pillow over his wife’s head while she was sleeping, but she fought him off and got away. He then allegedly grabbed her arms and shook and slapped her before she got free.
Once she was free, the victim, whose name has not been released, reportedly called her sister, NBC Miami reports. Francois overheard the conversation and retrieved a gun, which he allegedly pointed at her head while saying, “Today you’re going to die.” Francois then allegedly pulled the trigger, but there was no magazine inserted, so the weapon did not fire.
According to an affidavit obtained by Law & Crime, Francois allegedly said, “Oh sh-t, it’s not working,” before allegedly hitting the victim with an object. When Francois went to retrieve the gun again, the victim escaped to the yard, where she dialed 911 from a shed.
NBC Miami reports Francois was taken into custody without incident and denied the allegations. He was charged with attempted murder with a gun, aggravated assault, and domestic battery. WPLG reports a judge denied bond.
