Why Amanda Batula Moved to Hotel After Summer House Season 10

When Amanda Batula left the Hamptons at the end of Summer House Season 10, she headed straight for a hotel in New York City solo, rather than return to her and Kyle Cooke’s apartment. As for the reason behind Amanda’s temporary move, she unpacked her decision during the season finale’s conclusion.

Once all of their castmates departed the seasonal share house last summer, Amanda sat Kyle down for a frank discussion on the state of their marriage and their best course of action moving forward. During their emotional conversation, Amanda reflected on how much they’d both grown over the past decade, revisiting several of their highs and lows, including everything from “cheating rumors” to their ultimate engagement and wedding.

“We’ve had some of the best memories but also some of the absolute f–king worst,” Amanda said. “And I feel like leaving here this weekend, like, I wanna close that chapter and, like, start over, whatever that looks like for us.”

After Kyle admitted that he was “scared” of what might come next for them, Amanda broke the news to him: “Me too, and that’s why, like, something has to be different. And I just feel like we just need some time apart right now. I’m gonna stay a couple [of] nights in a hotel because something is fundamentally wrong in our relationship, and it needs to change. And this is me trying to start that. We need to figure out, like, what’s going on with us.”

Kyle, meanwhile, confessed that he was struggling to “find the words” to respond, before referencing the multiple difficulties in his life that summer. As Amanda told him, “I can’t be, like, just looking out for you anymore. I need to look out for me. I just need some space just to be alone.”

A bit later, she continued, “It just has to be done. You know what I mean? Because we can’t keep doing it like this.”

More details on Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke’s final conversation of Summer House Season 10

Amanda and Kyle’s conversation kicked off with the latter sharing that Ciara Miller had actually already talked to him about exploring a potential separation earlier that weekend. “I literally feel sick to my stomach,” Kyle told Amanda, explaining how his and Ciara’s talk had been in the “back of [his mind]” and “got the best of” him during his mid-dinner meltdown.

Amanda, for her part, said that she and Ciara had a similar conversation, prior to which she “had no intentions” of taking a break from Kyle. “I heard what she was saying, and I was like, yeah, maybe if it gets to that point one day,” she recalled. “But I was like, we’re in, like, a good place right now. And I really felt like things were moving in the right direction.”

Amanda said everything changed for her that very weekend, when Kyle clashed with her and Carl Radke, however.

“Just, like, seeing you snap like that on Saturday night and, like, the way that you just looked at me and said, ‘F–k you,’ and then almost fought Carl, like, that’s the s–t that scares me,” Amanda explained. “And I just feel like it pushes me back to, like, square one, where it’s like, is this what, you know, forever’s gonna look like for us?”

Before she revealed her decision to stay in a hotel for a couple of days upon returning to NYC, Kyle replied, “I just feel like I just, like, let everybody down. You, me. I had, like, such high hopes for this summer.”

Why Amanda Batula waited until the end of the weekend to talk to Kyle Cooke

Though Kyle previously made multiple attempts at talking to Amanda during the final party of the summer, she repeatedly shot him down.

“I don’t want to ignore my issues with Kyle by any means,” she explained in a producer interview. “I just don’t feel like arguing with him anymore. Like, I know I’ve had these conversations before. I know how they go. Do I get an apology? Maybe. Will he do it again? Yeah. … The only thing that has changed is, like, my reaction.”

As Kyle put it in a separate confessional, “I just ruined the last weekend of the summer. It’s not the greatest feeling in the world. And I’m kind of scared of what she’s gonna say. I mean, yeah, what are we gonna do? Have, like, another conversation about, like, how to recover from this? No. I feel like I just gave her everything she needed to kind of walk out the door.”

The next morning, when Kyle asked Amanda why she wouldn’t talk to him during the day before, she said, “Because you woke up and didn’t acknowledge anything … and, like, went about your day.”

He ended their chat in bed by telling her, “I just thought we’d have a chance to talk about the bigger picture.”

As the two officially close their chapter as a married couple in the Hamptons, find out what’s ahead for Kyle and Amanda on their new series, In The City.
