HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. (TCN) —Â A man has been arrested and booked into jail on drug charges after authorities say he was dancing in the middle of the road while holding a turtle, methamphetamine, and related drug paraphernalia.
On May 19, conservation officers saw a man dancing in the street while reportedly holding an Eastern box turtle, WXIN reports. These turtles are rare, mature slowly, and do not produce many offspring each year, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. It is illegal to handle them or collect them, per WXIN.
The man, whose name has not been released, also reportedly had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on his person and he was arrested and booked into jail on drug charges. The turtle was released back into the wild unharmed, according to a statement from the Indiana DNR Division of Law Enforcement.
