CARDWELL, Mo. (TCN) — A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in connection with the 2018 decapitation of his mother.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by KAIT, officers responded to a home on Dec. 21, 2018, after they received a call from Trevor John Huber, 36 at the time. He reportedly sounded confused on the call and when officers arrived, he answered the door naked and appeared disoriented and possibly under the influence of drugs. Inside the home, authorities found the body of Charlotte Wilson, 63. She had been decapitated.
A search executed at Huber’s home recovered Wilson’s head and a blood-covered hammer, which they believe was used to kill her.
During an interview with police, Huber said he had done methamphetamine the day before his mother’s death and was concerned he might have killed her. He reportedly told interviewers he believed she was poisoning him, per KAIT. Huber then wrote, “I killed my mother” on a piece of paper and swallowed it.
He was found guilty of first-degree murder on May 19 following a two-day trial and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to KAIT.
