As Amanda explained to West, it was “frustrating” that the group didn’t seem to think she was as clear-eyed about their new relationship as she should be. “They’re just, like, making me feel really f–king stupid for, like, trusting you,” she elaborated. “That’s annoying.”

When West asked if Amanda wanted him to “hop in more,” she declined the offer, telling him, “I think it’s just gonna piss people off. I think I have to just attempt to speak for myself.”

Noting how quickly Ciara Miller seemed to be getting “under [her] skin,” West offered Amanda some friendly advice: “I think just breath, apologies, and then, like, delivering it simple will help with composure.” That led Amanda to question if she’d gotten too “fired up,” to which he replied, “I mean, you acted like any person who’s being cornered.”

Explaining that she just gets “triggered” sometimes, West added, “Don’t, like, sound snippy.”

Amanda’s response? “Yeah, I know I can do better.”

Either way, West cryptically predicted, “I think it’ll get a little bit easier.”

Why West Wilson hesitated to follow Amanda Batula backstage following her reunion walk-off

Amanda and West’s lunchtime chat was actually one of several backstage conversations they’d already had through the first two parts of the Summer House reunion. As the cast questioned the viability of her and West’s romance in the same June 2 episode, for example, Amanda announced that she needed “take a break for a second” and headed backstage.

West did not immediately follow her, however, and their castmates had some strong opinions on the matter. “I didn’t know if the questions were gonna come back to me,” West explained. “We’re not gonna both leave. Just so you can tell me that we both f–kin’ left and bitch about that? Ask the questions.”

West eventually caved amid continued criticism, however, and joined Amanda in their shared dressing room. “I came to make sure you’re good,” he told her. On a hot mic, Amanda could be heard behind the closed door tearfully unpacking how some of the cast’s comments had “cut really deep” and had been “really hard” for her to process.

Prior to rejoining the cast on set without Amanda, West advised her, “If you have to cry on stage, cry on stage.”

What West Wilson and Amanda Batula told Andy Cohen backstage at the Summer House reunion

Before they even slipped into their full reunion looks, West and Amanda shared another quiet moment together behind the scenes. Upon his arrival at the studio, West declared that he actually felt “zen” — but also came prepared with plenty of sweat guards, in case things got more heated than anticipated. Amanda, meanwhile, told West that she wasn’t sure if her shortness of breath was due to anxiety or her corset being “so tight.”

Soon afterward, host Andy Cohen stopped by West and Amanda’s dressing room, and they spilled more the details on how they were feeling heading into the cast sit-down. “There’s nothing new that can be told today,” West insisted, while Amanda added, “The truth is already out, yeah. It’s just gonna be, like, shutting down the rumors.”

When Andy said that the two seemed to be “very calm,” Amanda responded, “We’re trying to be.” After the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host exited the room, a seemingly relieved West assessed that the conversation was surprisingly “not bad.” As Amanda warned him, however, “That’s nothin’,” and based on her Part 2 walk-off, it appears that this truly was the calm before the storm.

As the three-part Summer House reunion approaches its conclusion, find out what else West and Amanda revealed in exclusive backstage interviews.
