Next Gen NYC cast member Riley Burruss is opening up about her current relationship with her dad, Russell “Block” Spencer. Riley’s mom, Kandi Burruss, had been open on The Real Housewives of Atlanta about her struggles with Riley’s dad in the past. But Riley is in a much better place with him today.

Riley appeared on Heir Time with Reginae Carter on April 16, where she admitted that things had not been easy for her and her dad. But they are making progress in their relationship. “We were estranged for a while, clearly, and I decided this year that I want to make sure that my family is intact,” she explained in the episode. “To make sure that — like, I’m an adult now, I have to think down the line. When I have a family, I want to have grandparents to go to.”
“But the dynamic is really good now,” she continued. “We call each other. I just called him the other day, and I think he’s really open as well. So we’re really growing right now. We’re in the growing stages.”

Russell had given a glimpse at his relationship with Riley when he wished her a happy birthday on Instagram in August 2025. The Block Entertainment founder posted a more current photo of Riley before sharing the sweetest throwback photo of him and his daughter. “Happy B’day to my baby girl [Riley]!!!” he wrote in the caption of the post. He continued, leaving a message for his ex, Kandi. “[Kandi] u could have waited a couple more [hours] and she would have been a [Virgo] and born on the same day as ME!”
Kandi took to the comments of the post where she playfully replied to him. “Absolutely not. She was already a week overdue,” she wrote.
This comes on the heels of Riley’s meet-up with Russell last May, where she posted a video to TikTok of her hanging out with him as they lip-synched to a sound. “Don’t let my dad catch you,” she wrote in the caption of the post.

With big changes on the horizon, she’s focused on building a future that feels stable, but growing up comes with its fair share of growing pains as Riley must navigate challenges both personally and publicly.”
