Gallatin is a city located in northwest Missouri, located about 70 miles northeast of Kansas City, Missouri, and about 270 miles northwest of Saint Louis, Missouri. It is also the city where the McBee family patriarch, Steve McBee Sr., decided to start the family farm in 1998 when he purchased 300 acres of land, according to the McBee family’s website.Â
In 2005, the family expanded the farm, and by 2008, they welcomed their first herd of cattle. There are now 40,000 acres of row crop, 2,000 head of cattle, and 200 bison on the ranch. And the family keeps growing.

The McBee family farm is located in Gallatin, Missouri. Oldest McBee brother, Steven McBee Jr., appeared on the podcast, Balancing Act, on Sept. 5, where he opened up about what it was like to grow up on the McBee family farm alongside his three younger brothers, Jesse McBee, Cole McBee, and Brayden McBee.
“It’s just like, four wild boys growing up on a farm in Missouri,” he said during the episode. “We all played sports. It wasn’t only us four boys over. It was the entire football team or baseball team. Our house was the house to hang out with 15 boys my age.”

Can you visit the McBee family farm?
No, you can not currently visit the McBee family farm. Steven told The Daily Dish via email in August 2025 that he hopes to open up the farm to the public one day. “We’re working on making this farm a tourist destination with on-site farm visits, cabin stays, and tours, where we can give back to those who have helped us save it through supporting us and give everyone that wants the chance to come live the simple life on the farm, even if just for a couple of days. We’ve got some big plans in the future — so stay tuned for what we have in store!”
