From multiple proposals to co-parenting, Porsha Williams’ relationship with Dennis McKinley has gone through many ups and downs over the years. “Even though Dennis can be Dennis the Menace, I love him, and he’s a really good father,” Porsha remarked in a confessional, referencing their 7-year-old daughter, Pilar Jhena McKinley. “I really couldn’t ask for anything else other than that, even though we’re not even together.”
Later, Porsha stunned viewers by admitting that she’d actually considered reconciling with her ex-fiancé. “In a perfect world, [I’d] love to be back with Dennis,” she told a RHOA producer. “There is just another side to us that happens when we’re together that I just don’t like. I don’t ever want to be arguing in front of Pilar. I have never introducer her to a toxic household at all.”

Porsha went on to add, “For the sake of Pilar, I’ll be damned if I literally bring her dad in the house for her to see us together as a family and then break up.”
Inside Porsha Williams’ fourth-wall-breaking moment on RHOA Season 17
When Dennis arrived at Porsha’s home during RHOA‘s June 14 episode, he was carrying a red Cartier box with her original engagement ring inside. At the time, he was upset about her recent public comments about dating both Patrice “Sway” McKinney and Mike Bless. From Dennis’ perspective, he had “waited around” to possibly rekindle his romance with Porsha after her divorce from Simon Guobadia, but, given her dating life updates, there was “no point” in him “hanging around anymore.”
After debating which of them was more “intentional” in their formerly romantic relationship, Dennis said, “Which brings me to the next point. So, I brought your ring back today. Here you go.”
Upon seeing the 13-carat sparkler, Porsha broke down, blasting Dennis, “How dare you bring that ring over here! … Â You f–kin’ gave it to me twice, as an engagement that you f–kin’ broke. You are the trauma! Not the drama, the f–king trauma.”

Porsha noted that she “didn’t know that he kept the ring.” Accusing Dennis of “trying to be all nasty,” she instructed him to either give the ring to Pilar or “get rid of it,” but maintained that she did not want the diamond back. “That is mean as f–k,” she vented. “Just for me to even open the box and look at it is messed up. Just for me to even see it is triggering to me.”
After swiftly showing Dennis the door, Porsha went into another room and addressed the production team directly, breaking the fourth wall in the process. “Jesus, did you guys know he had a f–kin’ ring?” she asked the crew through tears. “I mean, that’s pretty f–kin’ triggering.”
In a confessional, Porsha added, “Dennis has crappy timing. I’m coming out of a divorce; I’m trying to rebuild. My heart is very soft right now, and here you come bringing up old feelings. I’m always thinking about Dennis’ mental health, and I just would wish he would also do the same for me.”

As mentioned, Dennis brought up Porsha’s reveal during CultureCon in October 2025, that she had, at that point, narrowed down the dating pool to two “normal” people. (“He is nice, and she is nice,” Porsha had told the Brooklyn, N.Y. crowd.) “You don’t think you need to slow it down?” Dennis asked Porsha. “When you’re dating, you don’t gotta tell everybody what you got going on. You can’t confuse my daughter like that.”
Porsha responded, “First of all, no one has met Pilar. I’m just dating and enjoying being single. You had your opportunity. Do you not remember that?” (ICYMI: Dennis previously revealed on RHOA that Porsha asked for her engagement ring back around Christmas 2020. Before he could give it to her, however, she got engaged to Simon in May 2021 instead.)
She went on to remind Dennis, “When you did not bring it in December, I met someone. Boom, I got in a marriage,” prompting him to clap back, “Yeah, guess what happened? … Done.” That’s when Porsha retorted, “You’re done. You happened just as fast, and you’re done as well.”
