Though The Valley‘s Janet Caperna revealed that she and Jason Caperna have an “open relationship” of sorts, her husband of four years set the record straight on The Valley After Show.
To quickly recap, Janet reminded Zack Wickham during the cast trip to Mexico in Season 3, Episode 12 (streaming on Peacock beginning June 18), that she identifies as bisexual. “So technically, when I’m not with Jason, he’s like, ‘I don’t care if you hook up with girls,'” Janet explained. “I’ve never acted on that though.”
Fast-forward to The Valley After Show, however, and Jason claimed that Janet’s statement was “definitely not true.” He elaborated, “When we were dating, I said something like that. But it’s like, OK, if Janet were to hook up with a guy, that’s pretty much, like, probably gonna go toward, eventually, the demise of our relationship.”

If Janet were to, say, make out with Lala Kent, for example, Jason would be OK with that, however. “You know, that’s fine,” he added. “If she were like, ‘Oh, I’ve been going out on a couple dates with this woman,’ I’d be like, ‘No, you’re not going on dates with this woman.’ Yeah, ’cause, like, I could just as easily lose her to a woman as to a man. I don’t think she gets exactly what I meant.”
Janet Caperna clarifies her “open relationship” comment on The Valley After Show
In hindsight, Janet also admitted that she probably didn’t do the best job in explaining Jason’s stance on the matter to Zack.
“I think I got it wrong at that time too,” she said in a separate After Show interview setup alongside castmate Michelle Saniei. “I think I said, like, ‘Jason wouldn’t care if I was with a girl.’ I think he would care if I was with anybody.”
Janet added, “So, just to be clear, there’s no, like, rule in place that I’m allowed to, like, be with women. I think it was more like, ‘Oh, if, like, you and Michelle had too many margaritas and, like, made out for a second in Mexico, like…”
Before she could finish her statement, Michelle chimed in, “She just wants to make out with me.” Echoing another comment that she made to Zack in Episode 12, Janet, meanwhile, declared, “She is my dream girl,” prompting Michelle to joke that they could make her dream a reality on their “next trip.”
On The Valley, Janet had also told a producer, “I’ve been with women in the past. Michelle’s stunning. She reminds me of, like, a 2000s Abercrombie model. I will have all the fun with Michelle.”
Jason Caperna weighs in on a possible threesome with Janet Caperna and Michelle Saniei
Back in Jason’s interview alongside Tom Schwartz, a producer asked, “So, there’s no plans for a throuple with you guys and Michelle?”
Jason responded, “To be honest, like, even a threesome… Even though it sounds like it would be awesome for, like, that time, I feel like that could complicate things too. And just, we have a good thing going, so I don’t want to rock the boat.”

After theorizing that the amount of “stress” of navigating a threesome might even lead to performance anxiety, Jason and Tom joked about having “no desire” for that headache at this stage of their lives. “It’s a lot of work for us,” Jason added with a laugh.
To hammer the point home, a producer reiterated, “So, then, no threesome with Michelle?” That actually raised another question for Jason. “Has Michelle said that she is interested in this?” he asked, without directly answering the original query. “Is that why you’re asking me?”
In the meantime, don’t miss an update on Jason and Janet’s plans for their family’s future.
