FAYETTE COUNTY, Ind. (TCN) — A man with an alleged history of domestic violence is behind bars on $450,000 bond after authorities responded to a hospital where a woman was being treated following a severe attack.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Justin Plummer on June 15. Three days prior, deputies responded to a hospital after receiving a report that a woman, whose name has not been released, was injured.
According to court documents obtained by WXIN, the victim told hospital staff that she and Plummer were arguing before he threw her on the ground, sat on her chest, and strangled her. He allegedly placed a rag into the victim’s mouth and poured water over it, causing her to lose consciousness several times.
Plummer then allegedly used a metal water bottle to hit the victim on the head several times; hospital staff said one of the lacerations it caused was so deep it exposed her skull. After the alleged beating, Plummer reportedly used superglue to try to close the wound.
WXIN reports the victim said Plummer forced her to record statements on his phone to cover up the attack and then passed out after drinking vodka and cranberry juice. She said was able to escape once he passed out.
According to WXIN, Plummer allegedly has a history of physically assaulting the victim, but she said the incident on June 12 was the most severe. Two days later, she reported an alleged rape that had occurred during the June 12 attack, after which he allegedly gave her a towel, told her to clean herself up, and make him some food. She said Plummer told her, “I would love to blow your head off. It would make me happy.”
Plummer was arrested and charged with two counts of rape while in possession of a deadly weapon and one count each of criminal confinement, strangulation, intimidation, and interference with reporting a crime. He was booked into jail and is being held on $450,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
WXIN reports Plummer has pleaded not guilty to the charges and a jury trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 19. Law & Crime reports that his next court date is July 29.
