Riley Burruss rejoined her Next Gen NYC Season 2 crew during Episode 2 after “traveling a lot,” and now she’s opening up about her future and her career ambitions during the Next Gen NYC After Show.
“I really like being corporate,” she revealed. “I really like going to the record labels, and working there, and doing a 9 to 5. I find that very fun.”
Riley has been open in the past about her desire to get a job in the music industry, and follow in the footsteps of her musical mother, Kandi Burruss. Riley graduated from New York University in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in music business.
During the Next Gen NYC After Show, Riley detailed why a corporate job is for her: “They have the ‘Summer Fridays,’ where you get off on Fridays, so you can work at home. And then you really get off at 2 p.m. I like that.”
Riley admitted she loves that world so much, she plans to become a “corporate baddie” one day.
“A corporate baddie is one who shows up to their 9 to 5, you know, looking their best, wearing the clothes that they would wear out on the day,” she explained. “And their hair always looks good.”

Riley shared a big update on her law school journey progress during Next Gen NYC’s July 1 episode, as she revealed to Brooks Marks during a phone call that she was applying to law school at Columbia University in NYC.
“DJ-ing is a passion. School is really my future. I really want to study to be an entertainment lawyer,” she confessed to producers. “I love music, I love law, and I love to argue, so, sounds perfect.”

She laid out her thoughts on her future: “I see myself working at a marketing corporate job, and then having my own marketing firm, for artists.”
Kandi Burruss reveals if she’s still financially supporting her daughter Riley
Kandi’s financial support of Riley was a hot topic during Next Gen NYC Season 1, and Riley confessed during the Season 1 premiere, “My mom has given me one year before she cuts me off financially.”
However, Kandi recently revealed that she’s still helping her daughter out with money.
“Riley runs through my pockets,” Kandi shared during her Feb. 22 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “I mean, you know, she lives in New York, in a two-bedroom, in a nice building. She does not have a roommate. That girl…”

Riley explained during a July 15, 2025 WWHL appearance that her mother hadn’t yet cut her off because she had plans to get her master’s degree, which is still in the works. But Kandi expressed her frustration in October 2025 that she was still supporting Riley.
“She’s still learning, child, because the way her bank account is, right now, she just ran through it,” Kandi said during an appearance on Sherri.
