The latest reveal about Kyle Cooke’s upcoming DJ gigs on In The City seemed to be immediately followed by a record scratch in Amanda Batula’s head. As she explained to a producer afterward, Amanda ultimately saw Kyle’s unexpected career news as foreshadowing the end of their marriage, months prior to their eventual split announcement.
During the cast’s Friendsgiving getaway to Connecticut in Episode 8 (streaming on Peacock beginning July 8), Gavin Moseley raised a glass, predicting that Kyle was “about to be a famous DJ,” in light of the fact he already had “14 gigs lined up.” This was new information to Amanda, however, who admitted in front of the group that she “had no idea” Kyle had already committed to that many late-night jobs.
When Kyle added that one of his upcoming gigs involved him “headlining one of the biggest clubs in the United States,” she sarcastically replied, “Glad we have an open stream of communication.”

In a confessional, Amanda elaborated, “Not only is he committed to this tour and all these gigs, something that we didn’t even talk about, he’s excited about it. This man is planning his future without me in it. … No matter how many times he tells people that he’s making efforts, his actions prove otherwise. There’s something in my gut that feels like this is the end.”
Inside Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke’s argument about his DJ’ing gigs on In The City
Back around the dinner table, Amanda briefly touched on the reasons behind her lack of excitement. “I think there’s a lot of history between us and a lot of things that not everyone’s privy to,” she explained to the group, also giving them free rein to laud his accomplishments. “But, like, my opinions and my feelings on this are gonna probably be different than all of yours. But we can still be happy for him and celebrate him. It doesn’t have to be one way or the other. It would be nice to have, like, had a conversation about it…”
That’s when Kyle interjected to say that he’d “tried multiple times” to discuss the situation with Amanda in the preceding months. As more of their castmates began to chime in with their opinions on the matter, she added, “Kyle hasn’t wanted to come home since the day we started dating. He’s had late nights and been absolutely f–kin’ s–t-faced since we started to do a hard reset with the…”

Again, Kyle cut in to say, “Your hard reset consisted of you doing nothing.” Amid more cast commentary, Kyle declared that he “might actually spiral,” and Amanda ultimately exited the dinner. “I think I just need to excuse myself,” she said. “My whole body is shaking. I’m just having, like, a physical reaction to all of this right now. I just need a moment.”
Lindsay Hubbard, meanwhile, followed Amanda to her bedroom. “My whole body was shaking,” Amanda told her. “I couldn’t stop, like, chattering, and I couldn’t catch my breath. It’s just like I’m always met with so much anger, and it’s just, like, draining. There’s no conversation. Anything I do, I check with him before ’cause that’s what teamwork and partnership and marriage is. But, like, I don’t ever get that respect or decency. And then it’s like I’m not being supportive ’cause I have opinions.”
Kyle Cooke reacts to Amanda Batula getting upset about his DJ gigs
A pair of flashbacks in the July 7 episode revealed that Kyle had officially signed with a new music manager, who’d estimated he could “realistically” earn “around a quarter million” for his upcoming gigs. Just prior to the welcome dinner in Connecticut, Kyle had shared the news with Gavin that he already had “a dozen gigs booked” from January through March 2026.
“Amanda, you know, moving out gave me a little more freedom to make money doing something I enjoy,” the Loverboy CEO added to a producer. “I’m trying to accept the fact that I’m gonna be doing things a little more on my own. To some extent, it’s freeing, but at the same time, it bums me out.”
After Amanda excused herself from the table, the group continued to debate the matter, and Kyle reiterated that he was not going to continue being “crucified” for staying out later after his DJ’img gigs. Eventually, Kyle got into a heated argument with Andrea Denver, who accused him of not behaving as he believed a married man should. Kyle fired back that, as a “married man,” he should also have the friendship, companionship, and intimacy that was missing from his and Amanda’s relationship.
Amid their conflict, Kyle also abruptly left the dinner, venting, “I can’t f–kin’ do this,” as he walked away.
When did Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula split?
Kyle and Amanda announced their separation in January 2026.
“After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple,” read their joint Instagram statement. “We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing. It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time since we’ve always tried to be open and honest about our relationship, but your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter.”
