Now, Janet is opening up on The Valley After Show about exactly why she and Kristen had a falling out—and it turns out it predates The Valley series premiere.

“Kristen and I went south basically when she was going through her breakup with the boyfriend before Luke [Broderick],” Janet revealed of Kristen’s ex-boyfriend. “I very much wanted to be there for her, but it was really back and forth and up and down a lot.”

Janet added the unpredictability of Kristen’s relationship was too much for her. “She’s like, ‘I’m done with him. I’m breaking up.’ Then I just wouldn’t hear from her for like two days, and all the sudden she’d be posting like, ‘Man crush Monday.’ And it’s the boyfriend,” she recalled.

Janet shared that being there to listen to Kristen’s boyfriend woes affected her relationship with her now-husband Jason Caperna.

“I was talking to her all day every day for hours at a time. And stepping away from like work, and Jason, and our life, to be there for her, which, is important to me as a friend, and I felt like she didn’t really appreciate it,” Janet admitted.

Janet went on to share a specific example of how she felt Kristen disrespected her. “She was staying at my house when I was on my honeymoon, because she was moving out from the boyfriend’s house, and I didn’t like how she treated my home when I was gone,” Janet said, then detailed, “There was a lot—like dog poop and vomit—and like, she drank a bunch of my wine that was for work.”

She concluded, “All I wanted her to do was be like, ‘I’m sorry,’ and that was kinda like the final straw for me. I was just like, ‘I have to put a boundary up.’ As soon as I put a boundary up, she was like, ‘You’re my enemy.’”

Kristen Doute reveals new details of an off-camera conversation about her friendship with Janet Caperna

During The Valley After Show, Kristen and Janet revealed new details of an off-camera, three-hour-long sit down at Brittany Cartwright’s home, where they attempted to hash out their issues.

“My goal was to go in calm, peaceful, level-headed—don’t get angry,” Janet revealed of the conversation. Kristen added in a quiet voice, “She sat there like this, and she spoke like really quietly, and she was like, ‘What is your issue with me?’”

Referencing their more recent issues related to Danny Booko and Nia Sanchez Booko, Kristen added, “I think the very first thing I said was, ‘Okay, I have a question. I’m gonna open this up. Do you think Danny and Nia owe you anything?’”

Kristen shared that although Janet responded she wasn’t going to speak about her issues with Danny and Nia with Kristen, Kristen argued that the couple was a central point of their falling out.

“I was like, ‘Well that is me. These are my friends. And the way you treat my friends is a direct reflection on how you would treat me,’” Kristen recalled. “And she kept trying to bring up the past of like our old friendship, and I was like, ‘That died. So many years ago.’”

She concluded, “There’s no growth. There’s no evolution…And I explained to her that I’m seeing a new version of her.”

Where does Kristen Doute and Janet Caperna’s friendship stand today?

Kristen emphasized during The Valley After Show that she’s not interested in repairing her friendship with Janet. “With a friend like her, who needs enemies?” she asked. “No thank you. I am good.”

Kristen said as much to Janet during a heated dinner in The Valley’s July 15 episode. “I don’t trust you for s—t, honestly,” Kristen explained. “I don’t think that I know you.”

When Janet asked her to answer why, Kristen added, “You like to hurt people, and you want to be mean to people, and that’s not someone I was ever friends with.”

Kristen expanded on her reasoning to producers in a confessional interview. “If the version of Janet that I was friends with still existed, I would 100 percent be friends with her. This is the inner battle that I have,” she shared. “When people show you who they are, aren’t you supposed to believe them?”
