Perez Hilton’s family shares update after self-harm attempt: “We remain hopeful”


Miami, Florida – Perez Hilton‘s family has thanked fans for their well-wishes and gave an update on the blogger’s condition following his hospitalization.

On Wednesday, the 48-year-old’s team and family members shared a statement on his blog after he appeared to harm himself during a disturbing TikTok livestream.

“Our family wants to once again thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, kind messages, and support for Perez. Your compassionate humanity during this heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express,” the post read.

It continued: “This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family. While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful.”

On Tuesday, August 4, authorities from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Perez’s home after receiving numerous calls from concerned viewers.

According to audio obtained by People, the media personality was later hospitalized after emergency services arrived at the residence following reports of a “possible suicide.”

His family confirmed in the post that Perez is able to “communicate,” which has given them hope and respectfully asked for “continued prayers, understanding, and grace” as he continues to recover.

The statement concludes: “We will share additional updates as we receive confirmed information and are able to do so.”

“For now, we’re taking things one step at a time and keeping our focus where it belongs, on Perez and his recovery. Again, thank you, truly, for all your support and compassion. We are so grateful.”
