In The City‘s Katie DeLuca Arundel is opening up about her longtime BFF Amanda Batula’s relationship with West Wilson. Katie grew up alongside Amanda, who she is still close with now. But Katie recently admitted that she was in the dark about Amanda’s relationship with her now-boyfriend, West.
Katie appeared on the podcast, Conversations with Cam, on Aug. 12, where she revealed that she was surprised by Amanda’s relationship with West, even though they all had hung out as “friends” prior to their relationship announcement on March 31. “They were friends,” Katie stated during the episode. “I found out when everyone else found out, but I found out the details the day before the statement came out when I showed up to her apartment and was like, ‘I need to have a conversation with you. What the f—k is going on?'”
Katie continued, saying that Amanda had “lied” to her about the relationship. “I’m not going to get into details about it, but a week before the statement came out, I had texted her a question as it pertained to the nature of their relationship, and she lied. Yeah,” she added.

Katie also revealed that she had voiced her opinions about West to Amanda and even issued her a warning about the relationship. “Yes, we had disagreements in private,” Katie admitted.
“I remember honestly after she filmed with Lindsay one-on-one, I had drinks with Lindsay [Hubbard] and she gave me updates on West’s timing with Meija [Moreno] that I hadn’t been privy to in the past. I raised real concern with Amanda. I was like, ‘I don’t think you should go to Italy with this man. He might drop you like a hot cake. Do you really want to give up everything? What are you doing?’ Those conversations happened in private,” she noted.

Although Katie did not agree with how Amanda went about the relationship, she admitted that she will always support her BFF. “I think two things can be true. Like, you can disagree with some things your friend is doing or actions they’ve taken, but you can simultaneously still think they’re worthy of friendship and love them,” she admitted. “I feel like the middle ground’s gotten completely lost.”
“When I look at Amanda and who I know as Amanda Batula, is the girl from third grade from elementary school that I’ve known my whole life who made a mistake. And it doesn’t mean that shouldn’t define who she is as a holistic person because it’s not who she is. And I think that’s the hardest part to me,” she concluded.
