Steven McBee Jr. is sharing new insight into Steve McBee Sr.’s decision to make Kristi McBee the interim president of the McBee family’s company while he was away in prison. The McBee Dynasty: Real American Dynasty patriarch chose to make his ex-wife and mother of his four sons the head of his company in his absence during Season 3. But Steven Jr. believes that his dad had ulterior motives with the move.
Steven Jr. appeared on the Roxanne and Shantel podcast on Aug. 24, where he admitted that he thought this move was a way of “trying to get my mom back.” “That’s a move there that’s like, he’s trying to bring her back in so he — yeah, that’s my thoughts,” he stated during the episode.
He continued, noting that it’s “not even a secret” that Steve Sr. wants to get back with Kristi after their divorce. But Steven Jr. doesn’t think his parents are compatible anymore. “I love my dad. He’s a great dad to us. Obviously, my mom is an angel on earth, literally. But those two are so polar opposite,” he explained.
“The fact that they made it as long as they did — my mom is such an introvert, loves being around the babies and the family, could care less about ever going out in public or going out to eat,” he concluded. “And my dad is a social butterfly. Like, those two could not be more polar opposite.”

Steven Jr. continued, admitting that it even came as a surprise to Kristi when she became the interim president of the company during The McBee Dynasty Season 3, Episode 6. “For me, my dad told us, ‘Hey. We’re having a company meeting. I leave to report to prison here.’ And it was like, less than a week,” Steven Jr. explained. “He’s like, ‘This is just all hands on deck. Rally the troops. We’re gonna be OK. It’s gonna be fine.’ And then he gets on there and throws that wrench at us.”
Kristi was shocked, to say the least. “My mom’s calling me. Like, I’m sitting there on the Zoom call, and my jaw’s dropped. I exited out of the camera because you could see it on my face…Because my mom has said the entire time, ‘I am here for you boys as third-party advice. No offense whatsoever, I don’t want to get in the thick of that mess. Like, ‘Yeah, your dad and I are divorced. I got away from him for a reason. I don’t want to throw myself back into that,'” he continued. “And then all of a sudden he put her at the head of the org chart.”

Kristi opened up about her divorce from Steve Sr. during McBee Dynasty Season 2, Episode 2. “Steve and I were married for 28 years. Then I started finding out there was a lot of infidelity. So I filed for divorce,” she explained in a confessional.
She continued, noting that she was afraid that Steve Sr.’s womanizing ways might have an impact on her sons. “My biggest fear with the boys is that they will become like their father,” she added. “I see what the boys are going through, and I can see them picking up some bad habits that their father has towards women. I want them to be good to their wives, girlfriends, to women in general.”
