Vicki took to her Instagram account on Aug. 10, where she posted a video in which she’s posing for photos alongside the core cast of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th. But while her cast members were posing silently, Vicki was taking a business call, proving her dedication to her job. “Selling insurance NEVER sleeps,” she wrote in the caption of the post.

This is also evident on RHUGT: Roaring 20th and RHOC, where Vicki can be seen working on her computer on the way to events and taking calls in the middle of outings regarding her job. Read on to learn more about Vicki’s jobs and her passion for her career.

Vicki has been in the insurance industry since 1991, according to Coto Insurance’s website, and her hard work has paid off. In 2015, Vicki was awarded Orange County’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and has been open about her motivations behind working so hard in her career. “I want to control my own paycheck,” she told Leader’s Edge Magazine in 2019. “I want to have full control of what I do and therefore I can go to bed knowing that I’m never going to be dependent on a man, ever.”

Vicki also works alongside her son, Michael Wolfsmith, at Coto Insurance & Financial Services, where he currently serves as the Vice President of Life Insurance. Vicki took to her podcast in December 2024, where she opened up about his role working with her. “Michael works for me and he’s able to do his job remotely no matter where he is,” she explained.

Vicki Gunvalson reveals how she got into the insurance industry

Vicki first got into the insurance industry following her divorce from her first husband, Michael J. Wolfsmith. The Illinois native took to Instagram in January 2025, where she revealed that a friend first got her into selling insurance. “My friend for over 32 years encouraged me to get my insurance license so I could provide for my children with no child support,” she wrote in the caption of the post. 

“It was the best decision I ever made,” she added. “We worked together for many years in a male-dominated business.”
