There is no denying that Dolly Parton’s music will live on after her sudden death. Yet in 2046, a completely unknown song by the singer will finally be released.

Besides the intriguing January 19, 2046, release date – what would’ve been her 100th birthday – the only detail known so far is the title of the unpublished track: My Place in History.

Parton herself had hinted at this special legacy in her 2020 book .

The ever‑flamboyant performer, who is always seen in eye‑catching wigs, reportedly stored a sealed box containing a CD in the hotel named after her: Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The box also includes a CD player.

As ABC News reported, Parton wrote the unknown song in 2015 at the age of 69. She wondered whether the CD and player would still work after all that time: “Hopefully it will play and the whole thing hasn’t rotted,” Parton wrote.

Unfortunately, she will not be around to witness the premiere of My Place in History. In her book, the legendary singer had even dreamed of it: “If I’m still here, I’ll be there for the opening.”
