A moment of fun in the sun quickly turned serious on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 after a guest was injured while riding in an inflatable toy in the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Croatia.

Stew Kat Johnston and deckhand Cooper Dawson joined the guests in the inflatable during the Sept. 14 episode, as lead deckhand Joe Bradley was towing the floating tube. Although Joe tried to warn everyone of a big body of wake coming, the float flew up into the air, and some of the guests even fell out. In the aftermath, Cooper and Kat discovered that one of the guests was hurt.

After hitting the wake while in the float, Cooper noted that the injured guest’s “shoulder might be out of socket.”
“I’m pretty sure I can see a bone like right here, that should be up here,” Kat indicated on her arm to producers during her Episode 15 confessional.
How the Below Deck Med Season 11 crew reacted to the guest’s arm injury
Before discovering one of the guests had been injured, the crew on board the yacht was initially shocked to see people in the water. “Oh my god, people fell off,” Gen Lillie said.
Kat, who was “so excited” to go on the float for the first time all season with the guests, was stunned when she saw the extent of the injury. “It doesn’t look okay,” she said. Moments earlier, Cooper urged, “Let’s get them in and go back.”

As the crew members helped all of the guests back into the inflatable to take them back, Joe radioed ahead to Captain Sandy Yawn for help and a medic.
“This is really f—king bad,” Joe candidly confessed to producers at the end of the episode.
Captain Sandy assured Joe a medic would be coming “right away,” and seemed very concerned. “Oh my god,” she said as a “To Be Continued…” graphic appeared on screen.

How the Below Deck Med crew faced a past medical emergency on charter
The guest injury during the Sept. 14 episode wasn’t the first time Captain Sandy had to call a medic during Below Deck Med Season 11.
Earlier in the charter season, Captain Sandy was also forced to call a medic on board for Cooper, after he inadvertently ate peanuts and suffered an allergic reaction. After medics checked him out, Cooper was cleared to work.
“What a relief to hear from the medic that Cooper’s gonna be okay,” Sandy admitted during the July 30 episode. “When you have such a healthy young man so vulnerable, it’s hard to see. Making sure that he’s taken care of is my number one priority. Anaphylactic reactions are nothing to play with.”
