A 33-year-old Florida woman is accused of stabbing a man to death as 911 dispatchers could hear her mocking his girlfriend’s cries for help and ignoring her pleas to stop the onslaught.
Amy Hogg is charged with second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3:15 a.m. Saturday to a home on West Highway 318 near Flemington, which is about 20 miles south of Gainesville. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, the victim’s girlfriend picked up Hogg — her best friend — earlier in the day to hang out. They made a dinner of jalapeño poppers, cheese sticks and chicken wings and drank booze before playing cards.

Hogg started accusing the victim’s girlfriend of sleeping with her boyfriend, identified as Shaun. Hogg attacked the girlfriend and the victim separated the two, per the affidavit. The victim’s girlfriend was outside smoking a cigarette when Hogg and the man began arguing. She called 911 and walked into the kitchen, where she saw the victim “gasping for air,” cops wrote.
“Please help, he’s bleeding,” the woman told 911 dispatchers.
She put the phone on speaker and the dispatchers could hear the incident unfold.
Hogg allegedly continued to stab the victim. She apparently began taunting the victim’s girlfriend, who begged Hogg to stop.
The girlfriend said the victim was “limp.”
“Babe … babe!” the girlfriend pleaded.
Hogg allegedly began mocking her so-called best friend.
“You’re not s—,” Hogg allegedly told her.
Hogg did not stop stabbing the victim and then attacked her friend, the affidavit stated.
“Amy, really?” the girlfriend yelled.
“Yeah, b—,” Hogg replied in a “non-sarcastic and vindictive tone,” cops wrote.
The victim became unresponsive.
“Yeah he’s done,” Hogg allegedly declared.
Hogg and the victim’s girlfriend began fighting over the knife.
“Yeah, I’m gonna f—in’ kill her a—, I’m sorry,” Hogg said, per cops.
Hogg accused her friend of having an affair with her boyfriend.
“You f—ed Shaun, you stupid God d— w—,” she allegedly yelled.
Eventually, the girlfriend disarmed Hogg before deputies arrived and took the suspect into custody.
Deputies took Hogg to a hospital for treatment before she was booked into the Marion County Jail, where she remains. Her next court date was not immediately listed.
The victim, who retired from the U.S. Army in 2023, was not identified.
