A 22-year-old Florida mother allegedly left her 1-year-old daughter alone in the car for about three hours so she could get her hair styled at a beauty salon.
Janina Joseph is facing a charge of child neglect without great bodily harm.
Cops responded around 8 p.m. Friday to a shopping plaza in the 20000 block of NW 2nd Avenue in Miami Gardens when someone found a young girl alone in a vehicle in the parking lot with no adult in sight, a probable cause arrest affidavit said. The affidavit did not say whether the car was running.

Paramedics arrived to check on the girl and deemed her to be in good health.
A quick search of the plaza failed to find a parent. Cops continued scouring the plaza and located the mother, later identified as Joseph, “doing her hair” in a beauty salon on the second floor, the affidavit stated.
Joseph said she arrived at the salon around 5 p.m. and went inside, leaving the 1-year-old alone in the car, cops wrote. In all, the child was alone for about three hours, cops said.
The girl’s father arrived at the plaza and picked up the girl. Cops arrested Joseph and took her to the Miami-Dade Jail, where she has since posted a $2,500 bond. She pleaded not guilty. Her next court date was not immediately listed.
Officers also contacted the Department of Children and Families, which said it would conduct a follow-up investigation.
