Los Angeles, California – Action star Sylvester Stallone opened up for the first time about his time in a psychiatric institution where he was admitted as a teenager – and the terrible things he experienced there.

While spending time at a psychiatric facility as a 17‑year‑old, Stallone said he was taken to the infamous “snake pit” – a concrete bathroom.
“The guards locked me in with a huge guy,” he told Germany’s Spiegel newspaper in comments translated from German.
“He came at me from behind, grabbed my penis like a madman, and wouldn’t let go,” Stallone explained. “If two guards hadn’t rushed into the cell, he would have killed me.”

He revealed the shocking fear he felt in that moment and said he’s never felt more vulnerable in his life.
The Rambo actor was sent to the institution by his school after he snuck off the campus one night to meet a girl.
“It was a disciplinary measure,” he explained. “Teenagers like me were locked up there with people considered mentally ill, as well as truly disturbed criminal offenders. There was shouting everywhere, it reeked, and total dehumanization prevailed.”
Women were also tortured in the institution. Their hair was cut short, and their fingernails were left dirty. They deteriorated within the institution’s filthy walls.
“They looked like zombies. About every ten days, the guards would bring them to the mentally ill men, who would then masturbate uncontrollably at the sight of them. The guards found it amusing. It was barbaric, I can’t forget it.”
He was able to channel all those horrors into his films. He said that when working on a new script or acting in front of the camera: “I can practically summon the smells and images in my mind.”
