Hailey Glassman’s first impressions of Carole Radziwill on The Real Housewives of New York City Season 16 left plenty of room for growth. In fact, on The Real Housewives of New York City After Show, Hailey even questioned if Carole was “trying to insult” her, while revisiting their early interactions on the show.

Upon returning to RHONY after an eight-year absence, Carole had at least met all of her new castmates — except Hailey. Once they’d been officially introduced, Hailey said that she thought Carole seemed like a “nice person.” But even after “a few” interactions, Carole still “didn’t remember” her. To make matters worse, Carole apparently gave Hailey a backhanded compliment at Daisy Toye’s Passover Seder that kicked off in Episode 3.
“I was wearing, like, this Louis [Vuitton] barrel bag,” Hailey recalled on the RHONY After Show. “She was like, ‘Oh, I like your bag, or is it fake?’ And I was just, like, in looking back, I think she was trying to insult me.”
After Jessel Taank opined that Carole “was definitely insulting” her, Hailey continued, “I said, ‘No, I don’t buy fake bags. It actually means a lot to me because my father bought it for me.’ And she’s like, ‘Oh, my father passed away, too.’ And I was like, ‘No, he’s still alive, but he just doesn’t buy me a lot of stuff.'”
Added Hailey, “She’s always going calling me quirky and, you know, this and that. But, like, hello?”

On the RHONY After Show, Carole highlighted how she met Hailey during the first time she filmed with the group: a surprise brunch to honor Sai De Silva. “At that brunch, I was like, ‘Oh, God, no,'” Carole said, before referencing Hailey’s “lavender marriage” with her husband, Rubin. “I thought she was in a throuple. Coming into that, it was a lot.”Â
In the end, however, Carole referred to Hailey as her “biggest surprise” of Season 16.
Hailey, for her part, said that she’d already grown accustomed to people’s misconceptions of her, especially after making headlines in 2009 for her past relationship with Jon Gosselin.
“If I had a dollar for every time someone was like, ‘crazy Hailey Glassman’…” she added on the After Show. “I mean, you know, the tabloids really did a doozy. I think what happens is I have a certain look, so they immediately judge me based off, like, the exterior.”

Which RHONY cast members did Hailey Glassman know before Season 16?
Hailey shared in an exclusive Bravo Insider interview that she met her new RHONY castmates for the first time while filming. “I came in knowing no one, like a lone wolf,” she said. “But then I got to know the women. I formed a really nice relationship with many of them.”
On the RHONY After Show, Hailey further detailed her strategy as a new cast member.
“I have never watched the Housewives,” she said. “I wanted to come in and really have my own experience and opinion. And I like going into things without, like, knowing anything, you know? And I think it actually worked out perfectly. I mean, it’s obvious I have no idea what’s going on, I think, but it just worked.”
Since her casting, Hailey said that she has “all these clips that come up of all this randomness,” before revealing that’s how she learned that Jennifer Tilly, who had a cameo in Episode 4, was even on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
