“I am just so overjoyed to Taylor again. I thought I’d lost her forever which is sad to me because I care about her family and her a whole hell of a lot and we’ve been through a lot, you know,” he said. “Her brother’s passing especially, I was there [that] day, I drove and met her. We weren’t even dating and we all cried in each others’ arms. I mean, this was a serious thing. There are things that are huge life events. So to reconnect means the world to me.”

During the Southern Charm Season 7 reunion, Shep admitted to cheating on Taylor by texting “an old flame” and kissing another girl in a stairwell. Taylor confirmed during a June 2 appearance on The Viall Files that she had reached out to Shep following her breakup from Gaston and met up shortly after. “He was like, ‘I cannot believe you are sitting here in front of me. I cannot believe you reached out. I care about you. I think about you all the time. I think about your brother. There’s so many times I want to reach out to you.”” she recalled.
The friends then met up again in June, with Shep taking to his Instagram Story to post a photo of him hanging out with Taylor and her parents. Taylor continued to show her support over the summer, taking to her Instagram Story in June where she revealed that she was reading Shep’s new book, Nothing in Moderation: A Psychedelic Reckoning with Excess.
