DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. (TCN) — One of five suspects connected to the death of a man who was burned alive inside his car last year has been sentenced to 86 years in prison.
On Dec. 14, 2025, deputies arrived at a burning car. When the flames were extinguished, they found the body of 58-year-old Michael Greer inside, according to WXIN. An autopsy revealed he had been alive when the car was set on fire.
WRTV reports Greer was found in the trunk of the car and evidence showed he had allegedly also been beaten and shot.
Five suspects were arrested in connection with Greer’s death, per WXIN: Randal Moon Jr., Ameariss Aponte, Amy Singhas, Megan Sloan, and Tallis McCoy. Moon, Singhas, and Aponte were the first suspects arrested, and Singhas allegedly admitted to police that she drove Greer to a remote location in Delaware County, Indiana, before Aponte drove the car off the road and allegedly set it on fire. Moon told police he drove Singhas and Aponte away from the crime scene after the fire was set.
Investigators also learned Sloan and McCoy allegedly had knowledge of the crime and its cover-up, per WXIN.
On Sept. 18, Moon, 41, became the first of the suspects to be convicted in Greer’s death. He was convicted of murder, arson, kidnapping, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to obstruct and was sentenced to the maximum of 86 years in prison on Oct. 13, according to WXIN.
WRTV reports Moon testified that he did not know that Greer was in the trunk of the car when it was set on fire, but prosecutors say he participated actively in the crime.
Greer’s obituary read, “Michael will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and friends, a love that guided his actions, inspired his generosity, and reflected the strength of his heart. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a thoughtful word, of making others laugh, Michael’s presence brought warmth and light to those around him.”
Aponte is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28 and the trials for Sloan and Singhas are scheduled to begin on Nov. 16, according to WXIN. No trial date has been set for McCoy, according to WRTV.
