Melissa spoke with Us Weekly at an event in Los Angeles on Oct. 10, where she shared her motivation for her apology to her husband’s older sister. “I don’t believe in holding things in. I’ll always apologize. I’m a happy person,” she said. “I always want to move on. I’m happy to give an apology for anything that might have hurt someone.”
The mom of three continued, adding more about the apology featured in the Oct. 4 finale of RHUGT, noting that while more was shared between her and Teresa at the party, Melissa is “happy that everyone saw me apologize because I feel like it takes a strong person to admit when they’re wrong and to move forward, and I’m so happy to do that for my family. I love our family, and I want us to stay together for a really long time.”

Melissa apologized to Teresa in front of Andy Cohen during RHUGT: Roaring 20th Episode 9 for joining RHONJ in Season 3. Although Melissa claimed that she had told Teresa about her audition for the show, Teresa denied this in a confessional. “I would never want to be on a show with my family. I’ve gone through a lot with my family being on the show,” she said.
Melissa told Teresa during the episode that she was sorry for the trouble that her joining the cast caused for their family. “You were here first, and I will never not say that to you,” Melissa said during the episode.

While Melissa, Teresa, and Dolores Catania will be returning to RHONJ for Season 15, Melissa reflected on her decision to join the show in Season 3 with Us Weekly. “In my mind, I was taking an opportunity that was offered to me, and I had no ill will. But you never know how other people are going to take it,” she said. “It was a battle back then. It didn’t pan out very nicely, you know. So I was apologizing for just anything that could have caused any hurt, and she’s definitely apologized too. It goes both ways.”

Now that Melissa and Teresa have reconciled and Melissa has apologized to her, there are only good vibes in store for RHONJ Season 15. “I am so psyched about this season,” she told the publication. “The new girls are amazing. A lot of new faces. There’s a lot of emotions, a lot of drama, and a lot of crying.”
