Captain Kerry Titheradge Slams Bosun Alex Wright’s “Mistake”

While the Below Deck Season 13 interior crew dealt with demanding guests aboard M/Y Azul during Episode 3, the deck crew navigated their own self-inflicted problems — and Captain Kerry Titheradge wasted no time calling out bosun Alex Wright.

How to Watch

Below Deck airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. EST/PST on Bravo. Episodes stream next day on Peacock.

After deckhand Jessenia Stidger accidentally dropped a jet ski harness into the ocean, Alex quickly recognized the gravity of the situation. “This is a big f—k up,” Alex said Below Deck’s Oct. 26 episode. “If any one of my team messes up, then it’s my responsibility.”

He went on to explain why the mistake was such a big issue: “That harness is what we use to lift up the jet ski and put it back on board. So if we’re not able to do that, we’re in some seriously hot water.”

When Captain Kerry learned of the mistake, he immediately pointed out another problem—no one marked where the harness fell into the ocean.

“The boat’s swinging. If something goes in the water, you have to drop a f—king weight, and put a float on it, so you can find it,” Kerry told Alex. “Nothing’s been done yet.” He angrily added as he walked away, “This is just a f—k up for no f—king reason.”

“We all make mistakes, but, if you drop something valuable, first thing you have to do, you have to mark it. Because the boat doesn’t stay still,” Kerry continued to producers. “Maybe [then] it’s a ten meter section that you have to search, as opposed to the whole ocean floor. Pretty basic.”

Captain Kerry Titheradge hints at making bosun “change” after Alex Wright’s mistake

Captain Kerry didn’t hold back his disappointment in Alex’s failure to properly handle the harness situation during the Oct. 26 episode.

“If we don’t get these things in line, we’re gonna make changes,” he bluntly told producers. “I can’t be holding his hand around the whole boat.”

Kerry also clued chief stew Fraser Olender in on Alex’s troubles leading the deck team, and even hinted to him he might fire Alex. “I really want Alex to work out mate, but, I just keep seeing these little things, and they keep adding up. Just, you know, 101 s—t,” he said, calling Alex “in the weeds.”

The preview for Episode 4 also hints that Alex’s job is on the line. As Fraser points out the crew “didn’t pack any towels” on a guest excursion, producers cut to Alex admitting, “F—k, I’m gonna end up getting f—king sacked.”

Lead deckhand Matthew Fitzpatrick-Buck also looks to make a play for Alex’s job, as the preview shows him saying to Kerry, “I’ve been bosun for two and a half years, if I do need to step up, I’m here.”

Bosun Alex Wright makes another “very rookie mistake” on Below Deck

Alex’s blunder with the jet ski harness wasn’t the first time he caught the ire of Captain Kerry during Below Deck Season 13. During Episode 2, Alex and Jessenia had trouble lifting the anchor, and Kerry wasn’t happy.

“The tide is moving, I’m getting pushed around, and I’m getting told nothing,” Kerry complained to producers. “Pretty pissed off. It’s unacceptable.”

Things got worse when Kerry checked on Alex and Jessenia, and asked, “The [anchor] brake’s off, right?” After Alex assured him it was, Kerry pointed out that the second brake was still activated.

“One of the brakes is still on. It’s not rocket science, man. Just open your bloody eyes,” Kerry vented in his confessional interview. He later voiced his lack of trust in his bosun: “Very rookie mistake. If you can’t get this right, what other things do I need to be checking?”
