COBB COUNTY, Ga. (TCN) — A 35-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the alleged abandonment of her infant daughter.
WAGA reports that on Oct. 24, Laraven Davis wheeled her 6-month-old daughter into a Jiffy Lube in a stroller. She allegedly got into a conversation with an employee about how cute the child was, then claimed she had somewhere to go and asked the employees to watch the baby for her.
One of the auto shop employees told WAGA Davis allegedly said, “The paperwork is in the bag. … You guys can just have her if I don’t make it back.” As soon as Davis left, the employees dialed 911. The infant reportedly had rashes all over her body and was wearing a soaked diaper.
Davis reportedly came back about 15 minutes later, allegedly holding a knife and asking for the baby back, per WAGA. Responding officers arrested Davis on charges of child abandonment and reckless conduct. The infant was taken to a hospital to be evaluated and was placed in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, according to CBS News.
Davis is behind bars on $4,620 bond, according to Law & Crime.
