‘OJ’s Accomplice’ Interviewee Makes Hot-Mic Claim About Nicole Brown Murder

What To Know

  • Peacock’s docuseries OJ’s Accomplice explores the theory that O.J. Simpson had help in the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.
  • In a recorded conversation, Charlie Ehrlich claimed that Joey Ippolito’s brother told him Ippolito had admitted involvement in the murders.
  • Co-director Ari Mark said he believed Ehrlich knew he was still being filmed and wearing a microphone but had begun speaking more casually.

It seems one interviewee in the new Peacock docuseries OJ’s Accomplice might not have remembered he was wearing a microphone as he discussed the murders of Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman.

Late NFL star O.J. Simpson was charged with and later acquitted of killing Brown, to whom he was previously married, and Goldman, a friend of hers. And OJ’s Accomplice, now streaming on Peacock, explores the theory that both Simpson and another party were responsible for Brown and Goldman’s deaths.

Some people believe that late former drug smuggler Joey Ippolito, a friend of Simpson’s, was that purported accomplice, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And it was Charlie Ehrlich, a friend of Ippolito’s brother and another friend of Simpson’s, who provided the hot-mic moment in OJ’s Accomplice, THR adds.

“You didn’t bring it up, so I’m not going to bring it up,” Ehrlich told Sumit David, one of OJ’s Accomplice’s directors, while sitting for the filming of B-roll for the docuseries, THR reports. “But yeah. I was very good friends with [Joey’s] brother Lou. Do you know what Lou told me? He told me that a month before Joey died, he took him to Italy — took Joe to Italy. Joe admitted that he was involved [in the murders].”

Ari Mark, the other co-director of the docuseries, told THR he believes Ehrlich knew the cameras were still rolling. Mark also said Ehrlich “knew he was mic’d up,” too.

“What happens quite often is, you know, folks are mic’d up and get comfortable,” Mark explained. “I don’t think he had forgotten that he was mic’d up necessarily, but I think he probably started speaking more casually.”

In a synopsis, Peacock says OJ’s Accomplice “challenges the dominant narrative around the O.J. Simpson murder saga and offers real evidence suggesting that what we thought we knew about the most obsessed-over crime story of all time could be all wrong.”

The docuseries features “exclusive interviews with Kato Kaelin and Nicole Brown’s sister, alongside never-before-heard first-person accounts from eyewitnesses, the documentary presents new information, raising questions as to whether members of OJ’s inner circle may have been there that night,” the streamer adds.
