As the original Lurch (Cassidy), George also has a tall and lanky look, a chiselled jawbone, and a deep voice. The mostly silent servant was always present at the pull of a noose, ready to serve any humorous needs of Morticia, Gomez, and the gang.

Over on IMDb, The Outtake star George is credited as Lurch for episodes 1, 5, and 8 of Wednesday, which suggests that perhaps the character won’t be a constant presence throughout the horror-comedy series.

The series mostly focuses on Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) and her time at Nevermore Academy, her parent’s alma mater. In the first episode, Lurch appeared briefly to chauffeur the family, Gomez, Morticia, and Wednesday, around Nevermore.

Wednesday Pays Tribute To Lurch

Netflix’s Wednesday features a quick scene that pays tribute to the most iconic line spoken by Lurch (George Burcea).

With the original series, The Addams Family, running from 1964 to 1966, its iconic gothic premise was adapted again on many occasions. The Addams Family genuinely became a pop culture phenomenon during the original dark sitcom.

Tim Burton’s Wednesday makes it a focus to pay homage to the classic emphasis of the Family that came before. It includes one of the show’s most famous lines spoken by the Family’s spooky butler Lurch.

Whenever The Addams Family’s character summoned Lurch with a bell pull with a loud gong nouse, mostly silent Lurch instantly appears and responds in his deep voice, “You rang?” The particular line has been used often in pop culture to reference the butler.

In season 1, episode 3, Wednesday Addams rings a bell to summon Tyler. He then comes into the frame and responds, “You rang?” Although it was a very quick scene, it is enough to greatly appease fans of the original sitcom.
