Authorities confirm that Patrick Tuputala, 34, surrendered to sheriffs on Thursday night. He was then taken into the custody of the Honolulu Police. On Puuloa Road near Nimitz Highway, he was arrested.
Honolulu Crimestoppers reports that Tuputala was taken into custody by HPD at 8:30 pm on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The 2013 silver Kia Rio with the license plate RWW504 that Tuputala fled the scene in is still being sought by Police.
Patrick Tuputala Has Been Charged With Ewa Beach Shooting
After an old man was shot and killed in Ewa Beach early Thursday morning, Honolulu Crimestoppers has provided information on the suspect still at large in a second-degree murder investigation.
The suspect in the shooting on Puamaole Street, which claimed the life of a 57-year-old man, has been named as 34-year-old Patrick Tuputala.
Tuputala is 5’10”, weighs 240 pounds, and sports red and black athletic shorts. His vehicle was a silver 2013 Kia Rio with the license plate RWW 504. He is regarded as dangerous and armed.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim had at least one gunshot wound. After being removed from the scene in critical condition, the victim passed away at the hospital.
Ewa Beach Shooting: What Happened?
On Thursday morning, a man was shot and killed in Ewa Beach.
Just after 8:30 am, Honolulu Police officers responded to a reported aggravated assault at the Palm Villas apartment building in the 91-1300 block of Puamaeole Street.
Police have identified the victim as 57-year-old Phillip Huth. He allegedly managed a building at the complex.
Honolulu Police officers and paramedics were dispatched to Puamaeole Street in Ewa Beach for a gunshot victim at around 8:30. Phillip Huth was given medical attention before being taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he passed away.
The complex’s property manager, Huth, was observed on his golf cart speaking with a man who had gotten out of a grey car. There were three gunshots heard. Neighbours recognized the car as Tuputala’s.
Before hearing three or four gunshots, witnesses claimed to have overheard the victim and the suspect arguing in the parking lot.
According to the Police, the suspect shot the victim before escaping in a small gray or white sedan. The suspect, a white man between 40 and 50, is described as such. When the shooting occurred, he had a jacket on.
Patrick Tuputala Charges: Is He Going To Prison?
On Saturday, Patrick Tuputal was charged with second-degree murder concerning the alleged shooting death of a 57-year-old resident manager in Ewa Beach.
According to authorities, Patrick is also accused of violating gun laws. Tuputala was charged with murder and two firearms-related offences, including keeping a pistol or revolver in a public place and carrying a gun while committing another crime.
$1 million has been set as his bail.
To find the suspect vehicle, which is still missing, investigators still ask for the public’s help. An inquiry is still being conducted.
Patrick Tuputala’s Girlfriend Revealed He Had Anxiety
According to the bench warrant, Tuputala resided at apartment 32D in the complex, which is located at 91-1289 Puamaeole St.
Kasey Todt, Tuputala’s girlfriend mentioned that he frequently drove their kids to school in the Kia Rio. She told Police that Patrick had called her and admitted to shooting Phil. He also revealed that he had struggled with anxiety and depression for a while.

She initially believed he was joking, but after seeing posts about the shooting on social media, she understood he was serious.
