In this exercise, one gym participant uses their hands to hoist a lengthy barbell after catching it in the middle. This task requires only one’s hands or arms, requiring neither upper body nor lower body strength to finish.

The challenge might seem easy but lifting an almost twenty kg barbell is not something anyone can do. Similarly, another form of the barbell challenge is called ‘THOR’s Hammer Barbell Challenge.’ 

The premise behind the Thor bar challenge is that it makes an average 45-pound weightlifting bar almost impossible to lift, much like Thor’s hammer.

Holding one side of the bar with both hands on one of the sleeves and holding the weight constitutes the challenge. The goal is to raise the other end of the bar off the ground without adding more weight while holding it with both hands on one of the revolving sleeves.

Some people make the endeavour much tougher by adding more weight to the bar’s far end. It appears straightforward and sounds easy, but it is not the simplest thing to do.

Another form of the barbell challenge is ‘The Cake Challenge.’ In the Cake Challenge, you lie face down on the ground as a barbell carrying hefty weights rolls over your body. The objective is to determine if the barbell rolls above your body is unhindered or stops due to your back.

If the barbell stops, you win. If not, you lose. Girls mostly do this challenge to determine whether or not their backs can stop the barbell from rolling over their bodies untouched.

There are a lot of Barbell Challenge videos on TikTok.

One TikTok user and gym freak, mt. fitness, tried to do the Thor’s Hammer Barbell challenge. He tried to lift the hammer by holding on to one of its ends. He successfully completed the challenge on his first try but could not finish it when he tried to do it again.

Similarly, another user, poly_build, tried to attempt the original barbell challenge. He looked pretty confident while initiating the challenge. He lifted the barbell by holding on to its centre with his arms and successfully completed the challenge.

The most viral barbell challenge is the ‘Cake Challenge.’ Genesis fitness’ official TikTok channel uploaded a video where the gym members tried the challenge.

Both men and women took part in the challenge and almost everyone successfully completed the challenges. But it was hilarious to watch some of the participants failing the contest when the barbell went over their backs. Their reaction to the result was also very funny compared to the winners’.

While most of the challenge video consists of the user completing the challenge, there are a few where the participant fails to complete it and just lets go of the barbell. 

A TikTok user posted one such video with the username gugotime. He tries to do the ‘Thor Barbell Challenge’ but fails. His face showed how much he tried to lift it, but the strength was not enough. Even though he could not finish the challenge, he still got 2.5 million likes and 14.4k comments on his video.
