Margate police said Gregory Whitney, 58, drove away about 10 p.m. in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck with Florida tage FLRNWSQ, WPLG reported.
Before he left, police said, he texted his wife multiple times saying he wanted to die. Whitney’s wife called police, and after they arrived, he called her.
“I’m going to kill someone tonight,” they heard him say.
He’s believed to be carrying a semi-automatic handgun.
Whitney is described as 5 feet 10 inches toall and about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved, orange shirt and black work pants.
