Kansas coach Bill Self was hospitalized and taken to the emergency room Wednesday night. The doctors said it was not related to the heart and said it was a standard procedure.
The chief medical officer at the University of Kansas Health System, Dr. Steve Stites, said Bill did not have a heart attack, which some media outlets had reported.
After going a successful procedure, Bill remained in the hospital on Thursday. While Dr. Stites did not provide details about the nature or extent of the medical procedure that Bill Self underwent, he did mention that the coach is expected to make a full recovery.
This means that Self is likely to regain his health and resume his duties as head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team shortly.Â
Self was unable to be available on the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team in their game against West Virginia on Thursday. However, the team was in capable hands, as assistant coach Norm Roberts stepped up to fill in as acting head coach.
Despite Self’s absence, the Jayhawks were able to secure a decisive 78-61 victory over West Virginia, a testament to the team’s resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity.
