Darel Galorenzo Charged With Manslaughter’ A Vermont man has been charged with manslaughter after he fled the scene of a car crash on foot and lost his toddler son in a brook, where he drowned.

The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office in northwestern Massachusetts said Darel Galorenzo, 35, has also been charged with reckless endangerment of a child, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and operating under the influence, according to WCVB.
Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene of the crash just before 2 a.m. on Saturday and quickly learned that a 2-year-old boy had been in the vehicle along with his father. They found him about 20 minutes later in Hudson Brook.

According to iBerkshires.com, Galorenzo was traveling southbound and struck a mailbox and then a utility pole before the 2015 Subaru Crosstrek rolled over.
First responders arrived within minutes, and emergency medical technicians provided first aid and then transported the child to Berkshire Medical Center in North Adams, where he was pronounced dead.

Galorenzo was found nearby, and troopers noted that he appeared to be intoxicated. He was brought to the same hospital under police guard and taken into custody after he was discharged.
He is being held on a $100,000 cash bail.
The toddler was not named.
