Jury Convicts Green Bay Woman Taylor Schabusiness For Murdering man after Having $ex
WBAY-TV reports the jury returned the verdict Wednesday, July 26, after about 30 minutes and convicted Taylor Schabusiness of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, and third-degree $exual assault in connection with the February 2022 death of Shad Thyrion. Her trial immediately moved to a second phase to determine her mental state at the time of the killing.
Prior to the trial, Schabusiness pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. The Brown County judge ordered multiple competency exams.
At the second part of the trial, Schabusiness’ father, Arturo Coronado, reportedly testified that he was worried about his daughter’s mental state “all the time,” according to WBAY. An expert witness who analyzed Schabusiness’ medical history said Schabusiness spent time in an inpatient facility after having suicidal thoughts.
During a recent competency hearing, Schabusiness attacked her attorney and fought back against a deputy trying to restrain her.
According to the criminal complaint shared by Law & Crime, on Feb. 23, 2022, between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m., Thyrion’s mother heard a door slam and went downstairs to the basement of her home to see if he was still there. She didn’t see her son anywhere, but she then noticed a bucket by the door with a blanket on top of it. When she removed the blanket, she found Thyrion’s head.
The criminal complaint says the bucket also contained “a male organ, along with body fluid and two knives.”
Green Bay Police arrived and discovered body parts, organs, and knives in bags and a storage tote in the basement. Police also found evidence of drug use and blood.
Investigators traced Schabusiness to an apartment and she walked outside. The affidavit said she had what appeared to be blood on her hands and sweatshirt. Detectives looked inside Schabusiness’ van and found a “Crock Pot box, which was on top of a laundry basket of clothes and located additional human body parts, including legs.”
Schabusiness told detectives she and Thyrion were smoking meth and she put a chain around his neck while they had $ex, which she said was “part of the $ex act.” She then said she went “crazy” and started choking him even more. She said Thyrion “would not die” and that he just kept “rebuilding into muscle.”
After Thyrion died, she “played with his body” and performed $exual acts on the corpse for approximately two to three hours.
Schabusiness admitted to dismembering Thyrion’s body and leaving his organs and body parts around the basement, though she claimed she “blacked out during that time.”
According to the criminal complaint, “Schabusiness stated the plan was for her to bring all of the body parts with her, but she got lazy and only ended up putting the leg/foot in the van and she forgot the head.”
