Police Investigating Motive In Murder of Synagogue Leader – Crime Online

Detroit Police Chief James White says that “no evidence has surfaced” suggested the murder of a beloved synagogue leader on Saturday was a hate crime, but investigators also have not revealed any clues to indicate it wasn’t.

Samantha Woll, the 40-year-old president of Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, was found dead in her Lafayette Park neighborhood Saturday morning, a trail of blood leading from her home, as CrimeOnline reported.

Police have said there were no signs of forced entry at Woll’s home or any defensive wounds on Woll’s body. White said on Sunday that more information would be provided Monday, WDIV reported.

“DPD investigators are working with the FBI to forensically analyze all of the information obtained up to this point in an effort to ascertain the timeline that ultimately led to Ms. Woll’s death,” the chief said. “Individuals with information that may further this investigation are being interviewed.

“I again ask the community to remain patient while our investigators and law enforcement partners continue their work. Everything that can be done to bring this matter to closure is being called into service.”

Funeral services for Woll, who worked on the campaigns of several Michigan Democrats, including Attorney General Dana Nessel, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and State Sen. Stephanie Chang, were held Sunday afternoon.
